RAJA'S PALACE
Large traditional house belonging to a Chettiare family, with adjoining courtyards, beautiful loggias and verandas
This large traditional house belongs to a Chettiare family that has produced mayors in Madras and ministers in Tamil Nadu. It allows one to familiarize oneself with the architecture of the rich Chettinad residences, whose style skillfully mixes neo-classical and Victorian influences, Indian traditions and motifs drawn from Hindu mythology. The courtyards with teak columns, the loggias with twin columns and the verandas are the main features. Unfortunately, this palace is closed to the public until further notice.
