MURPHYS HISTORIC HOTEL
Historic hotel of interest to paranormal enthusiasts and ghost hunters in Murhys
One of the oldest hotels in California still in working order. Opened for the first time in 1856, the establishment was named Sperry and Perry Hotel, the names of the first owners. In 1859, it was destroyed by fire, despite its stone construction. Opened again in 1860, the hotel was considered one of the most prestigious outside the city of San Francisco and welcomed many guests of honour such as Mark Twain and Ulysses S. Grant (former President of the United States who stayed at the hotel in 1880). Later named Mitchler Hotel, it was acquired in 1945 and registered as a historic monument in California under the name Murphys Historic Hotel. This hotel has attracted a lot of interest from paranormal lovers and ghost hunters such as the groups The Chill Seekers and California Haunts have confirmed their findings. Indeed, an entity named Eleanor would be one of the permanent residents of the hotel, apparently a former maid at the time, she would be a maniac of the place and would put your affairs in disorder. Ask for the Eleanor Room for a thrilling paranormal experience. Please note that not all rooms are equipped with a bathroom, only some of them have one such as the JP Morgan room. The rooms are named after the most famous visitors who have stayed at the hotel in the past
