ESTACIÓN SEPTIEMBRE
Conservationists try to protect sea turtles by conducting night patrols and setting up fish tanks
Sea turtles return to local beaches between July and November, to lay their eggs on the beach where they were born, after a long 16-year round-the-world journey. The babies return to the sea between September and November. Ecologists try to protect them (the flesh and eggs are traditionally eaten by the local population), by patrolling at night and setting up fish tanks(tortugario) to protect them until they reach the ocean. It is advisable to stay overnight to take part in the nocturnal activities.
