The Kennedy Gold mine, located on the Mother Lode vein, is one of the largest infrastructures of its time
The Kennedy Gold mine, located on the Mother Lode vein, is the deepest in the northern United States, reaching nearly 1,802 metres. It was one of the largest infrastructures of its time and the only mine to be visible from the outside. It produced US$34,280,000 in gold. It is 100% humid in the mine and workers spent all day there, 10 hours a day. Mules were very important companions for mining work and were used to transport miners. Functional from 1860 to 1942, the mine suffered a fire in 1928 that was one of the worst disasters in its history.
Travel back in time and discover the various methods of mining by visiting this historic site. In the summer, plays are produced on the property
