MONTEVERDE GENERAL STORE MUSEUM
Sutter Creek's flagship historic facility, bringing back brands that have been gone for decades
Sutter Creek's historic landmark, the utility store, established in 1898, is still in the same condition as the traditional general stores of the gold rush. As it is written on the sign of the counter, this store will be closed for a few days, the owner of John Monteverde's name and his family have finally never returned since October 27, 1971. This well-kept treasure takes us back more than 120 years, and allows us to discover brands that have been missing for decades. It is very interesting to contemplate the vintage advertisements of the time as well as the household appliances of the past. There are even a few cans and sweets left... more than a century old. Ask Bob Fyock or one of the city's volunteers to learn more about the mysterious history of this store, which became a museum in 1992. If you haven't booked, you can always look through the store windows, of course, nothing is for sale!
