LEGACY 1995
Association committed to the preservation of heritage and the environment. Founded in 1995 by architects from Unilag (University of Lagos), the latter organizes tourist excursions (Osogbo, Abeokuta, Lagos Island,...) by bus and train, and leads a real fight for the preservation of the historic buildings of colonial Lagos. It has renovated some of them, including the Jaekel Museum in Yaba, where it now organizes all types of private events to revive these buildings and to finance itself. Legacy 1995's credo is summarized by its president Sola Akintunde, "No future that holds without knowing and understanding its past". The association works with several donors and Oxford University. The few excursions on offer are announced well in advance on the association's website - which was to be modernised before the end of 2019.
