DIDI MUSEUM
Private collection of Doctor Newton Jibunoh, an adventurer who made 4 times the London-Nigeria journey in a Jeep! Ask the person in charge for a guided tour, very well informed about each of the museum's pieces, its history and meaning. While the collection - assembled during the 1980s - is limited (barely two rooms), it is sufficiently rich to obtain a fine overview of Nigerian art: leopards and Oba heads in bronze from the Benin empire, beautiful masks from Cameroon, offering calabashes to the Osun goddess in Osogbo wood, busts and dolls inlaid with kobo from Yoroubaland, monoliths in Calabar stone... Don't miss the terracotta heads of the Nok civilization, dated between 500 BC and 200 AD. The paintings are more ordinary. The play also includes a small library of books, some of which are for sale, and a poster of the famous Nigerians: if this one is in itself of no interest, take the opportunity to ask for the stories of the characters you do not know!
