CBAAC
Established in 1979, the Centre for Black and African Arts and Civilizations exhibits works from the 2nd World Festival of African Arts and Culture, held in 1977 in Lagos Island. The latter regularly organizes shows, conferences and exhibitions, and hosts an art bookstore. If the whole thing sometimes smells a little dusty, some very beautiful pieces are on display, including terracotta sculptures from the Nok civilization, a collection of period photographs and many paintings in eclectic styles (each of the 60 countries participating in FESTAC77 provided at least one work!).
