PASSING THROUGH THE SURROUNDING VILLAGES
Go there and contact
Crossing the surrounding villages, especially on the road from Whispering Palms to Badagry, is a furtive and colourful dive into the daily life of Nigerians. We are here in a more rural Africa, where time is much slower and life is less conflictual than in Lagos. The men play checkers, the women do sewing work, the butcher in the corner cuts a whole pig with a chopper on a workbench, the children walk around not far from the lagoon and there is talk under the neem. Perhaps you will be able to spot along the way the Iroko-tree, a symbolic tree of Nigeria, or the straw fetishes of voodoo worship waiting for the next ceremony?
