NIKE AMBASSADOR GUEST HOUSE
A charming little Guest-House, the villa is in fact the very residence of the artist Nike Okundaye, whose Lagosian gallery is one of the most famous in the country. Pictures of her and her relatives can be seen in some rooms. The latter are simple, but comfortable, all on one level arranged around an interior patio and equipped with a shower and toilet cubicle separated from the room by a curtain. It feels like home at Nike, with a living room sofa, a fridge (you can bring your picnic) and a small kitchen, paintings and brightly coloured batiks decorating the walls. But above all, we are quiet, not a sound except that of the cicadas in the big garden with its beautiful trees and that of the rooster in the morning. Stroll through the alley of statues in the courtyard, under the trees framed by bushy bushes and accompanied by ducks or giant turtles: a change of scenery guaranteed for Lagosians! It is also in the vast garden that you will be served breakfast, a Nigerian buffet with bread and eggs for the more fussy. Evening dinner can be enjoyed on the roof's verandah terrace, which lets the air pass over the pretty or the grilled fish served copiously. Ask in advance to take advantage of the excursions organized by the Guest-House, linked to Nike's workshops to learn the art of painting, sculpture or simply for a visit!
