CREEK TOWN AND TWINS ISLAND
Not really of interest on Twins Island: once Mary Slessor's place of residence where she hid the twins - giving her name to the place - the island now welcomes the descendants of some of the survivors, who show you fishing nets, modern dwellings and some animals (iguana and crocodile) in captivity. The trip is only for those who would not have time to go to Creek Town and would like to take a boat trip on the river.
The visit to Creek town is much richer, to observe the quiet life of the island's inhabitants and to soak up the mangrove swamp and its birds. When you arrive on the Creek Town pontoon, you can see the old two-storey colonial house overlooking the bay from the hill. It is actually a prefabricated house in the United Kingdom and delivered by boat directly to Creek Town! Reserved for the high dignitaries of the time, it was inhabited by King Eyo Honesty II, who ruled the city at the beginning of the 19th century. The interior, frozen in time, but still inhabited by the king's descendants, contains some period photos and richly worked antique furniture. Also old cannons and an 1845 bell to observe on the way, as well as the pretty ochre Presbyterian church from the same year.
