VILLA DI NERONE
Ancient villa above the free beach of Anzio.
The Villa di Nerone extends for more than 800 m, from Capo d'Anzio to Capo dell'Arco Muto. It was here that the emperor was on the day of the great fire that ravaged Rome in 64. Below the villa is the free beach of Anzio: the setting is splendid and what a joy to be able to enjoy the sea while admiring a particularly well preserved ancient villa! The marbles and statues that have been found there are now on display in the greatest museums: from the Borghese Gladiator in the Louvre to theApollo of Belvedere in the Vatican Museum.
