Center offering guided tours to discover the seals that inhabit the Gulf of St. Lawrence, in Grande-Entrée.

In a guided tour, you will discover the world of these marine mammals that inhabit the Gulf of St. Lawrence: their habitat, their way of life, their migration, their food and the way they were hunted. On site: a multi-image projection Ice Story showing, among other things, whitecoats on the ice floes as well as the photo exhibition Hunting Chart by Yoanis Menge. Note that if you stay at La Salicorne, the entrance to the center is included.

Un endroit qui sur la papier est séduisant. La visite est en fait très décevante, voir contrariante.
Nous avons fait cette visite en hiver. Le centre est situé dans un hotel, constitué de quelques pièces avec des informations sur le phoque. La guide qui nous a fait la visite n'avait réponse à... presque aucune question. Elle est surtout présente pour défendre la pêche au bébé phoque (désormais interdite). La haine de Brigitte Bardot l'anime. Sa fascination pour la méthode est sidérante : elle mime avec passion le gourdin qui fracasse le crâne des animaux. Bref, tout ça est bien malsain et on en ressort avec la nausée, sans avoir appris grand chose. La question de la chasse aux phoque, activité ancestrale et culture de l'ile, pourrait entre abordée de manière bien plus intelligente et constructive.
