PLACE-MOULIN LAKE
Lake in Bionaz, the biggest water reservoir of the Aosta Valley.
Lac de Place-Moulin is the largest water reservoir in the Aosta Valley. It was created between 1961 and 1965 with the construction of the dam of the same name, and is one of the largest in Europe. The interior of the facility can even be visited from May to September. A path runs along the left bank of the lake to the Parayer hut at 2,005 m (44 m ascent from the dam). The route is a lovely balcony overlooking the turquoise waters of the lake, passing by a fine example of rascard and a chapel. The hike takes about an hour.
