MOGUL CASTLE
A remarkable castle, the highest in the Aosta Valley, in Saint Rhémy.
This castle, the highest in the region (1,600 m), was built at the end of the 11th century, but was destroyed in 1300 by order of the House of Savoy. A punishment inflicted on those who failed to pay homage to the counts. It was rebuilt in the 15th century by the Lords of Bosses, who owned it until the mid-18th century. Today's appearance is that of the rebuilt building: a rectangular, one-piece stone structure with geminated windows. It is used for temporary exhibitions and cultural events.
