If weaving and basketry hold a place of choice in Rurutu's craftsmanship, they do not sum up all the richness of the island's know-how. Proof of this is with Gilbert Versiglioni, who works with wood, mother-of-pearl and local stone - feo, the island's kind of travertine. In his workshop, he creates and sells a variety of objects ranging from penu to hairpicks, paper cutters, humene, mortars and pestles. Enough to fill up on compact souvenirs, to give or to indulge oneself.
