ANNE OF GREEN GABLES MUSEUM
House museum where novelist Lucy Maud Montgomery was married in 1911 in Park Corner.
Nicknamed Silver Bush by Lucy Maud Montgomery, author of Anne of Green Gables, the house served as the setting for her short stories Pat of Silver Bush and Mistress Pat. The 45-hectare estate was built in 1872 by her Uncle John and Aunt Annie Campbell, but the land has been in the family since 1776 and is still their property. Today, it's a museum dedicated to the novelist and her works. Here you'll find the famous Lake of Mirrors and Anne's library, not to mention many artifacts that once belonged to Lucy Maud Montgomery. You can take a leisurely stroll around the museum. It was here, too, that the novelist was married in 1911, and since then, couples from all over the world have come to unite their destinies. Less glamorous: in summer, the museum is also taken over by busloads of Japanese (Anne is a real star in Japan). So don't be surprised if you come across a few people in the street wearing Anne's headdress, a straw hat and two red braids. On-site, you can also take a carriage ride with Matthews Carriage Ride (maximum 4 people, reservation required). Finally, don't leave the site without stopping off at The Anne of Green Gables Store, which has a branch on the museum site. Good deal: the package including 4 attractions and the show Anne & Gilbert The Musical.
