ANNE OF GREEN GABLES MUSEUM
House museum where novelist Lucy Maud Montgomery was married in 1911 in Park Corner.
Nicknamed Silver Bush by Lucy Maud Montgomery, author of Anne of Green Gables, it was the setting for her short stories Pat of Silver Bush and Mistress Pat. The estate of nearly 45 acres was built in 1872 by her Uncle John and his aunt Annie Campbell, but the land has been in the family for a long time, since 1776, and is still owned by them. Today, it is a museum dedicated to the novelist and her works. It is home to the famous Lake of Mirrors and Anne's library, as well as many artifacts that belonged to Lucy Maud Montgomery. It is possible to take a nice walk around the museum. This is also where the novelist was married in 1911 and since then, many couples from all over the world have come to unite their destiny. Less glamorous: in summer, the museum is also taken over by buses of Japanese (Anne is a real star in Japan). So don't be surprised to see a few people in the street wearing Anne's headdress, a straw hat and two red braids. On site, it is also possible to take a carriage ride with the Matthews Carriage Ride ($110 CAD for 30 minutes, maximum of 4 people, reservation required). Finally, don't leave the site without stopping at The Anne of Green Gables Store which has a branch on the museum site. Good deal: the package including 3 attractions and the show Anne & Gilbert The Musical.
