SOROBANGO MOSQUE
This mosque is a religious gathering place made of banco bricks supported by wooden beams in the walls.
In accordance with Sudanese tradition, the building is made of banco bricks (a mixture of clay macerated with straw, rice husks and possibly shea butter for waterproofing) supported by wooden beams (also period) inserted in the walls. Because of the careful maintenance regularly carried out by the faithful, the ancient building still retains its original architecture, as well as its vocation as a religious gathering place (the fifth imam of the mosque was inducted in 2014).
