AJUNTAMENT I ANTIGUES ESCOLES
City Hall housing a building built according to the basilica plan with a ceramic covered bell tower
The work of the architect Albert Joan i Torner, this remarkable monumental complex dated 1912 is now the headquarters of the Town Hall of Les Franqueses del Vallès (formerly Corró d'Avall). If you look at its façade, you will notice the central body of the building, which is built on a basilica plan. It is flanked by two rectangular buildings, themselves framed by two rectangular constructions. Four bodies make up this modern and harmonious ensemble. The symmetry is expressed in the balanced distribution of the large windows that pierce the façade. The town hall is located in the main body of the building, where the ceramic-covered bell tower stands, while the side buildings housed the schools for girls and boys, with the manor houses on either side. Inside, the decoration gives pride of place to the applied arts: wrought iron, enamelled ceramics, sgraffito and polychrome stained glass show all the modernist creativity. A small café, installed on the square, invites you to take a break.
