MUSEU-ARXIU TOMÀS BALVEY (MATBC)
Family museum with a space dedicated to botany housing a collection of over 200 Empire style bottles
This museum is named after its founder, Tomàs Balvey, the last representative of an old family of apothecaries. On the top floor, the museum displays Tomàs Balvey's private collection of objects he collected (archaeology, coins, antique furniture, Catalan ceramics, clothing, traditional tools, firearms, etc.). On the first floor there is an exhibition on the history of Cardedeu, from its agricultural past to its transformation into a modern town. But the highlight of the show is the stunning Balvey pharmacy, which preserves its period furniture (1660-1780), including a collection of more than 200 Empire-style bottles. Behind the pharmacy, an area dedicated to botany with games. Before leaving, don't forget to visit the botanical garden and its medicinal species.
