Sanctuary in the Iberian period, on the hill in Figaró-Montmany, with a baroque altarpiece
Secretly perched on its hill, this sanctuary has been the culmination of an annual procession in honour of the Virgin of Puiggraciós since ancient times. But the occupation of the site, with its strategic position, dates back to Iberian times. The sanctuary was built at the request of the rector of Montmany between 1701 and 1711. In 1936 it was desecrated and stripped of its Baroque altarpiece, but the Gothic icon of the Virgin of Puiggraciós was saved by the inhabitants of the village. Restored in the 1950s, it now houses a community made up of a handful of Benedictine nuns.
