Ice well with a mill at Tagamanent farm to store and market ice blocks
A short stroll along the left bank of the Avencó stream (Avencó square starting point, Aiguafreda, 45 minutes, easy) allows you to observe different hydraulic constructions, including three ice pits dated between the 12th and 18th centuries. These semi-subterranean circular constructions were used to store ice in blocks. It was then marketed in the large urban centres of the region in summer (Barcelona, Mataró...). Along the way, take a look at the mill, the farmhouse and the old canal that used to divert the water from the stream to a pond.
