CASA DEL DOCTOR BASSA
This modernist villa-café was the home of Dr Sebastià Bassa i Barbany, doctor and mayor of the village between 1902 and 1915. It was built by Raspall in 1906, in his most modernist period. The façade combines three materials: stone, brick and ceramics, all worked in symmetry. Other characteristic elements are the wrought iron railings. On the ground floor windows, note the use of the trencadis technique, but also how the plant forms of the balustrades extend beyond the window jambs to the mosaics (a technique associated with the first phase of modernism).
