POBLAT IBÈRIC DEL PUIG DEL CASTELL
Iberian village of Puig del Castell with a beautiful view of the plain with the archaeological remains of the hill
From Cánoves i Samalús, a 1 hour and 40 minutes hike will take you to this hill where the archaeological remains of the Iberian village of Puig del Castell, identified as the disappeared city of Lauro (they used to mint Iberian coins here!), lie. The path starts from the clay car park next to the Xavier Flaquer Civic Centre (old schools, built by Raspall in 1919).
The village of Puig del Castell was built by the Laietans (an Iberian people) more than 2,000 years ago. Discovered in 1955, the site preserves remains of walls, towers and the wall that surrounded its 4 hectares of land. It was abandoned in the middle of the1st century BC. Beautiful view of the plain of Vallesana from its 600 meters above sea level.
