Masia of Can Cuc with a monumental tree of 13 m in diameter and about 700 years old
This chestnut tree is said to be one of the largest trees in Catalonia. In the 1960s, a coalman would have even lived for a while in its trunk (13 metres in diameter), setting up a bed, table, chairs and a fireplace! A circular route will take you through the forest to the masía de Can Cuc and its monumental tree. Watered by the river Vallforners, which flows at its feet, the tree is said to be around 700 years old. Departure from one of the two car parks located near the Vallforners reservoir (depending on availability of space). Attention, paying car parks on Saturdays and public holidays (3 €). Easy. Duration: 2h30/3h return. On the way back, you will pass by the beautiful neo-gothic hermitage of Sant Salvador de Terrades (1930).
