SANT MARTÍ DE MONTNEGRE
Small village of Sant Martí offering a very nice walk through the woods
In the heart of the Montnegre massif, in a forest of holm oaks and chestnut trees, this hermitage crowns the highest point of the Montnegre. The small village of Sant Martí and its church were mentioned as early as 998 in official documents, although the present chapel dates from the 17th century. A beautiful marked walk through the woods starts at the hermitage of Sant Martí (where you can leave your car). It joins the church of Santa Maria de Montnegre, at the top of the turó Gros, via the GR 92, and then forms a loop until it returns to its starting point (2.5 hours in all, easy).
