ESGLÉSIA DE SANT MARTÍ
Sumptuous church with a baroque facade, equipped with 2 small angels at the top, presenting a monumental altarpiece
This sumptuous church with a Baroque façade was designed on a rectangular plan flanked by side chapels, buttresses and an octagonal apse. Detail its carved marble portal and its superb façade with a monumental sgraffito altarpiece, a major witness of the late Catalan Baroque, made in 1753. The complex, divided into three sections, has: on the lower level, two archangels, with the figures of Charity and Justice; in the centre, the allegories of Faith and Hope; and on the upper level, the holy martyrs Celdoni and Ermenter, accompanied by musical angels. At the top, an allegory of Fame, surrounded by two small angels bearing the attributes of St. Martin, to whom the church is dedicated. Above the portal, a niche framed by two pilasters displays the sculpture of Sant Martí by the artist Celona Lluís Montané.
