TORRE DE LA FORÇA ET DE CAN CASQUET
Ancient fortified city of the medieval period, surrounded by a 37 m long wall, with 5 circular towers
La Força" is the old fortified town of Sant Celoni, dating back to medieval times. It was surrounded by a 37-metre long wall with five circular towers. Two towers have survived, the tower of La Força and the tower of Can Casquet, as well as the base of a third tower.
The current wall was built in the 14th century around the chapel of Sant Celoni, which was itself erected in the 11th century at the instigation of the Lords of Montseny, at the foot of the royal road, halfway between Barcelona and Girona. Its strategic position favoured the development of the urban fabric of Sant Celoni. In the La Força district you can still see the stone portals and windows of 16th-century houses. The toponym of the city comes from the name of the chapel of Sant Celoni.
