CASTELL DE FLUVIÀ
Stately home with a vacation camp with a chapel in Lombard style and a theater
Built in 1154 on top of a hill, it was not until the 14th century that Fluvià Castle was fortified by adding loopholes and a watchtower. In the 18th century it was converted into a manor house. It houses the Lombard-style chapel of Sant Cebrià and Santa Justina, which preserves several elements of its original structure, although it has been restored many times in the course of its history. It was also the scene of an important historical episode relating to the Reapers' War, a popular Catalan uprising that took place between 1640 and 1652. In 1640, several people were murdered in the context of this conflict, including the lord of the castle, Antoni de Fluvià-Torrelles. The tragic episode is evoked in the "Song of the Reapers", the Catalan anthem! Currently, the castle is home to a summer camp.
