Imposing Renaissance castle with superb secular and allegorical paintings in a good state of preservation
The imposing Renaissance-style castle was built in the 16th century at the instigation of Baron de Llinars on top of a small hill presiding over the village. The former castle of the Barony of Llinars del Vallès, located away from the town centre, was damaged by the earthquake of 1448 and then abandoned in favour of this new construction. It is a castle with a rectangular floor plan organised around a central courtyard. The main staircase leads to the noblest room of the palace, which is covered by a magnificent coffered ceiling and decorated with beautifully preserved 16th-century secular and allegorical paintings. Unique in Catalonia.
