ERMITA DE SANT CEBRIÀ DE CABANYES
Small Romanesque church in Sant Fost de Campsentelles with collections from the Episcopal Museum of Vic
The origin of this small Romanesque church dates back to the 11th-12th centuries, although it was partly restored in the 1970s. It was consecrated in 1192 and remained a parish church until the 16th century, when it was attached to the town of Sant Fost. The former altar façade, a magnificent linear Gothic style wood painting, left the building in 1888 to be presented at the Universal Exhibition in Barcelona. In 1899, the work depicting scenes from the life of Saint Cyprian was added to the collections of the Episcopal Museum of Vic. In 2014, the equally superb Gothic altarpiece that decorated the church, dating from the end of the 15th century, was rediscovered in the reserves of the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC). Historians had lost track of it during the war!
