CAN COLL
Masia surrounded by gardens with a chapel with walls decorated with paintings by Maties Palau Ferré, dedicated to St. Baptist
An impressive masia, located at the entrance of the village. Rectangular in plan, surrounded by gardens, it is topped by a square tower with 4 floors. On the ground floor, let yourself be surprised by its chapel dedicated to Saint Baptiste, whose walls are covered with magnificent paintings by Maties Palau Ferré, a disciple of Picasso. Its origins date back to the 11th century. These paintings represent the arrival of the relics of Sant Vicenç and Santa Clara in the chapel, where they remained until the sackings of the Spanish Civil War.
The noble parts of the house can be seen on the first floor: the five richly decorated rooms have alcoves and are decorated with antique furniture in eclectic styles. The noble salon, the reception room, is riddled with 17th-century Italian paintings.
The masia Can Coll was owned by the Coll-Llanza family from medieval times to the 20th century. The Sancho-Vilardell family acquired the house in 1957. Today it belongs to the municipality.
