RUINES DU CHÂTEAU DE MATSUSAKA

It was the military commander Gamo Ujisato who initiated the Matsusaka Castle in 1588. Like many such buildings in Japan today, a typhoon destroyed the castle. The impressive stone walls fortunately still remain. This site is now a gathering place and walking area for locals who like to relax and enjoy the view. As the seasons change, plum trees, cherry trees, wisteria and gingko add to the scenery.
