This Buddhist temple was built in the sixteenth century by Toyotomi Ancestor, a great lord, in memory of her late mother. The monastery was often burned and the last reconstruction dates back to 1869. He is famous for his th century paintings performed by Kan school in Kyōto. It is currently the administrative headquarters of all 117 temples in Koyasan.
