KOKA NINJA HOUSE
The first ninjas in Koka appeared during the era Chōkyō (1487-1489). To repress the rebel Sasaki Rokkaku Takayori, Shogune Ashikaga Yoshihisa launched an invasion with his army. But Koka's warriors supported the Sasaki Rokkaku clan by organizing many surprise attacks in the mountains. At night, they discreetly approached the enemy's headquarters to fire on them and save members of the Sasaki Rokkaku clan. The leaders of the time were impressed by the tactics and unique abilities of Koka's warriors. Since that time, they have been called the Koka Ninja. They invented tools and tricks, not to attack, but to quickly escape dangerous situations. The Koka Ninja House is an impressive example of defensive construction. During the visit, you will discover different defensive systems that are very clever. A hidden ladder leads, for example, to the floor where you are completely isolated. The ceiling of the mezzanine is between 1 and 1.5 metres high. This architecture prevented the enemy from using his katana. As the ninja's sword was shorter, the fight was to the advantage of the guests of the residence. The walls were also full of hiding places. A hidden closet allowed the ninjas to hide quickly. Once the door was closed, the wall looked like an ordinary wall. The visit is pleasant with the family, the children being able to imagine themselves as ninjas for the time of a visit. Don't forget to taste the local drink, Koka Kola.
