Komyo-ji temple was first built in 1198 by Kumagai Naozane. Today, it is the main temple of the Seizan sect. It has an excellent collection of Buddhist artwork and statues. The road from Chokushimon Gate to Somon Gate is commonly known as "The Maple Road". In the fall, visitors can enjoy the sumptuous tunnel formed by these brightly coloured trees(momiji in Japanese). This path is one of the most famous places in the prefecture during this season.
