THE SCHIMMEL
Nicolas Koechlin's former hunting lodge, now a multi-purpose follow-up care and rehabilitation facility.
Dominating Masevaux, on the slopes of the Südel, the Schimmel seems to have come out of a tale. Former hunting lodge of Nicolas Koechlin, it was transformed into a luxury hotel in 1820. Its invigorating air and breathtaking views made it famous among the wealthy people who frequented the establishment at the time. Destroyed in 1914, it was not rebuilt. The Schimmel that can be seen today was rebuilt on the ruins of the Schimmeleck, and has been transformed into a health resort that is now a multi-purpose follow-up care and rehabilitation facility.
