SERDAL PEARL DIVING

Looking for an adventure? You can dive head first into the waters of the Persian Gulf and maybe even find your fortune while you're there. Yas Island has launched a new pearl diving experience, to experience the traditional art while making your heart beat a hundred beats a minute in the deep blue sea. Serdal Pearl Diving takes pearl divers on a nearly six-hour journey back in time to the golden age of pearl history in the United Arab Emirates. Sailors board a traditional Emirati dhow from Yas Marina and sail to a dive site one nautical mile away. On board, you listen to pearl diving folk stories and join your hosts in singing age-old Emirati songs. While anchored at the dive site, you then learn the traditional methods of beading and diving to harvest real oyster shells from pearl beds deep in the Persian Gulf. On the scenic return trip, you learn the techniques of opening your freshly caught oysters. If all the oysters end up in the same basket, with a lot of luck and after long deep dives, maybe you will find your future retirement fund nestled inside! Let's hope so!
