CAMEL RACING

Every winter, on Friday mornings, the camel races take place: owners, camels, trainers and spectators all rub shoulders and crowd together. The multicoloured camels are presented in their most beautiful light. Then it's time for the race, the animals over six years old run around the ten kilometre ring in eighteen minutes. Ninety per cent of the camels are females, who are reputed to be better runners. The start of the race is particularly impressive, as it is difficult to follow afterwards. During the week, training sessions can also be seen.
