VILLAGE DE LOHOVO
Go there and contact
Village located closest to Bihać housing a small information center as well as several accommodations and restaurants.
The village of Lohovo/Лохово (pronounced "lo[r]ovo") is the entry point #6 of the Una National Park. It is the closest to Bihać and the starting point for many rafting and kayaking trips down the Una River. There is a small information center and several accommodations and restaurants, but no year-round residents. Lohovo was inhabited by 700 people, 90% of them Bosnian-Serbs before 1991, and the whole population fled at the end of the last war. If the entrance is free here, it is because the road stops following the Una 3.5 km to the south. There is also a border post here, where the crossings are not too frequent and the controls are not too long. If you have a vehicle insured to enter the European Union, you can continue through Croatia to Nebljusi (10 km south of Lohovo). On leaving this village, on the left, a track (4 × 4 recommended) crosses the Una Mamea forest reserve where the hamlet of Donji Štrbci with a campsite is located, and then the Štrbački Buk waterfall. The view is also beautiful there. To return to Bosnia and Herzegovina, either take the same route in the opposite direction, or make a long 60 km loop north to the border crossing of Ličko Petrovo-Izačić, located 14 km northwest of Bihać. You will then drive through the Plitvice Lakes National Park (295 km2), a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1979. On the way, you will find many accommodation options (see Petit Futé Croatia).
