BENEDIKTINERABTEI ETTAL
Ettal is an abbey and a brewery in one. And a magical baroque setting at the foot of the mountains.
The Benedictine Abbey of Ettal was founded in 1330 by Ludwig IV of Bavaria and still exists today. The abbey's basilica is well worth a visit: the 18th century gave it a splendid dome. Inside, the round room under the dome is marked by surprising pink and gold tones. Currently, 33 Benedictine monks live and work here. Since 1609 they have been brewing beer here, which is marketed under the name Ettaler. But they are also the originators of a beer known throughout Germany: Benediktiner, which is now produced elsewhere.

Le cloître est beau.
J'ai vu l'ensemble sous la neige, donnant une autre atmosphère.
