MUSEUM OBERE SALINE
A museum dedicated to thermal baths. It includes the private apartments of Chancellor Bismarck, a regular visitor to Bad Kissingen.
As the name suggests, the museum is housed in a former salt works dating back to the 18th century. It was here, 3 km from the town centre, that Chancellor Otto von Bismarck had his headquarters during his spa visits. A great insomniac, the Iron Chancellor came to Bad Kissingen about 15 times to treat his sleeping and stomach problems. His apartments have been integrated into the museum tour. The other rooms show the history of the town and the practice of balneotherapy and hydrotherapy. Temporary exhibitions.
