A superb medieval fortress.
This superb castle-fortress also dates from the Middle Ages and, as if by miracle, it does not seem to have aged at all despite its great age! In the heart of the forest, perched on the top of its cliff like a tightrope walker, the view is absolutely stunning. A real architectural feat, its construction was no doubt no picnic. Its oldest owner gave it his name, Wernherus von Prunn. He lived here from 1037 onwards, and since then the fortress has constantly changed owners, becoming the property of the State of Bavaria in 1946.
