ČAKOVEC CASTLE
Castle in Zrinski Park with a municipal museum used as an artistic stage for open-air concerts.
In the Zrinski Park, the castle was built in the 13th century by Count Dimitrius Csáky. Its imposing fortification, the largest in Međimurje County, bears witness to the magnitude of the Zrinski-Frankopan conspiracy, a landmark event in Croatian medieval history. The various families that succeeded each other brought stylistic redesigns to the castle. Today it houses the municipal museum (historical, ethnographic and artistic collection). In summer, the atrium is used as an artistic stage for open-air concerts.
