Poverty Point Reservoir State Park is home to fishy waters that attract fishermen of all stripes.
Poverty Point is a reservoir of about 10 km2 and is the site of the state park. Its fishy waters attract fishermen of all kinds and many migratory birds stop here, including waterfowl. The area around Macon Bayou is frequented by black bears and it is best to be careful if you go to this area. Special mention to the beach of the North Marina Complex and to the cottages on stilts in which to spend the night.
