Beautiful tchardak. Note the geometric, zoomorphic and anthropomorphic motifs of the traditional costumes.
Opened in 1971, this museum (Muzeu Etnografik i Kavajës) is housed in an 18th-century tchardak, a traditional Balkan house. Damaged in the 2019 earthquake, the single-storey building was restored in 2022. The 800 or so exhibits now benefit from a more meticulous presentation. Of particular note are the geometric, zoomorphic and anthropomorphic motifs of the region's traditional costumes.
