OLD VILLAGE OF USHAIQER
Old village created 1,500 years ago to discover the Al Salem museum, the ancient Ushaiqer mosque, Ushaiqer mountain...
The old village of Ushaiqer is a classic stop on the way to Buraydah. It was founded 1,500 years ago by Bedouins seeking to settle down and earning their income from passing caravans and pilgrims. The inhabitants who now live on the outskirts of the old city continue to mobilize for its preservation. To walk through its labyrinth of alleys and ruins is to go back in time, to a time when the sight of a village was a guarantee of finding water and being able to rest for a while.
School. Just before the entrance to the old village, on the left on the main road, you will see a first square building, in ruins. This is the first school built in Ushaiqer.
Al Salem Museum. This small museum created on the initiative of the inhabitants of Ushaiqer is installed at the entrance of the village, at the end of the main road on the right. It gathers a collection recovered from attics and cellars of embroidered clothes, pottery and old traditional jewelry. The museum is run by the inhabitants themselves who are happy to tell stories and anecdotes about the life of the village.
Old mosque of Ushaiqer. On the square at the entrance of the village, which served as a gathering place for palaver and festivals, is the old mosque. Its minaret with a square base and a round top is quite singular.
Mountain of Ushaiqer. Just behind the village is a small mountain that offers a sumptuous view of the old city.
