Old village created 1,500 years ago to discover the Al Salem museum, the ancient Ushaiqer mosque, Ushaiqer mountain...
The old village of Ushaiqer is a classic stop on the way to Buraydah. It was founded over 1,500 years ago by Bedouins seeking to settle down and earn their living from passing caravans and pilgrims. The inhabitants who now live on the outskirts of the old town continue to campaign for its preservation. To stroll through its labyrinth of alleyways, to explore its ruins, is to go back in time to a time when the sight of a village was a guarantee of finding water and being able to rest for a while.
School. Just before the entrance to the old village, on the left of the main road, you'll see the first square building, in ruins. This was the first school to be built in Ushaiqer.
Al Salem Museum. This small museum, created on the initiative of the inhabitants of Ushaiqer, is located at the entrance to the village, at the end of the main alley on the right. It brings together a collection of embroidered clothes, pottery and ancient traditional jewelry recovered from attics and cellars. The museum is run by the locals themselves, who are delighted to tell stories and anecdotes about village life.
Old Ushaiqer mosque. The old mosque stands in the square at the entrance to the village, once a gathering place for palavers and festivities. Its minaret, with its square base and round top, is quite singular.
Ushaiqer Mountain. Just behind the village lies a small mountain offering a sumptuous view of the old town.
