King Fahd International Airport is 45 km northwest of Dammam. Allow plenty of time during the day to get there. It is a former U.S. Army airbase opened to civil aviation in 1999. Perhaps that's why it's the world's largest airport, not in terms of routes or passengers, but for its surface area of... 776 km². It includes a terminal from which flights depart and arrive.
