Al Hofuf has a large Filipino community and several restaurants to cheer them up when the blues hit. Jepang is one of them. The setting is simple and friendly with a real effort to break the cafeteria side. On the menu, you can discover the Filipino Muslim cuisine including the tiyula itum, a dish simmered with beef or goat. The black color of the sauce comes from the coconut flesh burned before being integrated into the dish.
