AL AMIRIAH SCHOOL
A school designed to educate the princes of the kingdom, distinguished by its architecture blending Islamic influences.
The Al Amiriah school was temporarily closed when we visited. It is one of the oldest public schools in Saudi Arabia and the first in Al Hofuf. Construction began in 1937 and it opened its doors in February 1941, under the auspices of Prince Saud bin Jalawi, Prince of the Al-Ahsa Governorate. The school was intended to educate the princes of the kingdom. Its architecture blends Islamic influences, particularly noticeable in the arches of the courtyard, which alternate semicircles, European-style floral motifs and Mughal lotus flowers.
